Lycra fabric for lining swimsuits.

Now you can make PRO swimsuits!

How many times have you wondered: "How should I line my swimsuit?". Well! Now you have the answer. Swimsuits can certainly be lined with cotton, but as you can easily imagine, it would stay wet for a long time and not be so comfortable. Lycra, on the other hand, offers ease of application and elasticity, allowing the fabric to adapt perfectly to the shape of the swimsuit, and is undoubtedly a product that dries much faster!

Lycra fabric is one of the most popular choices for creating swimsuits due to its high elasticity, durability, and comfort, making it extremely useful for lining swimsuits in more delicate areas that we prefer not to be in contact with coarse materials.

Composition of Lycra fabric:

Lycra, also known as Spandex or elastane, is a synthetic fiber created from polyurethane. Generally, Lycra fabric for swimsuits is composed of a blend of Lycra fibers and other materials such as polyester or nylon. The percentage of Lycra can vary depending on the specific needs of the garment, while the remainder is made up of the other fibers.

Weight of Lycra fabric:

The weight of one square meter of Lycra fabric can vary depending on the density of the fibers and the type of weave. However, in general, Lycra fabric for swimsuits is lightweight and weighs approximately between 190 and 230 grams per square meter.

Resistance of Lycra fabric:

Lycra is known for its resistance to various environmental factors that can damage fabrics, making it an excellent choice for swimsuits.

  • Chlorine: Lycra fabric is resistant to chlorine, which means it maintains its shape and elasticity even after being in contact with pool water. However, it is advisable to rinse the swimsuit after each use to prolong its life.
  • Salt: Lycra is also resistant to salt, maintaining its characteristics even after immersion in seawater. Similar to exposure to chlorine, it is important to rinse the swimsuit after use.
  • Sun: Lycra offers good resistance to UV rays, protecting the skin from excessive sun exposure and preventing the color of the swimsuit from fading. However, it is important to note that prolonged exposure to the sun can weaken the fiber over time.

Uses of Lycra fabric:

Lycra fabric is widely used in the production of swimsuits for men, women, and children, thanks to its elasticity, body adherence, and water resistance. It is suitable for one-piece swimsuits, bikinis, briefs, swim shorts, and other beachwear. In addition to swimwear, Lycra is also used in the production of sportswear, such as leggings, bodysuits, and sports jumpsuits, due to its supportive and comfortable properties.

If you then pair it with a specific yarn for swimsuits...THE GAME IS ON!
