Let's talk about one of the most appreciated and controversial yarns on the market.
But let's start from the beginning: what is Acrylic Yarn. Without going into unnecessary technicalities, acrylic is a synthetic fiber that is among the most used in the world for any type of garment today.
Well, let's debunk a popular belief. Acrylic is suitable for babies! Yes, and if we were to think for a moment about the onesies for babies even from prestigious brands, we would discover that they are indeed made of acrylic. But we must make a distinction:
In fact, there are many more or less valid offers on the market and finding slogans such as acrylic yarn sale, acrylic yarn stock, discount acrylic crochet yarn is really easy. But is it worth it? That is the question to ask. Just as not all spaghetti are the same, not all acrylics are the same!
First of all, by sourcing from certified companies that follow the supply chain and if possible producers like Tessiland that do not work with any non-EU suppliers even for the fibers, while the competition usually offers Turkish products which have nothing to do with our acrylics.
It is very common to see ads talking about soft acrylic wool but then you see compositions of 100% acrylic. It is indeed common practice to refer to wool to identify a winter yarn, but the term acrylic wool cannot exist because it is either wool or acrylic. If the composition includes a mix of these fibers, it is referred to as a mixed wool ball.
Another distortion is to talk about microfiber yarn. Yes, indeed, one should not be surprised to discover that microfiber yarn does not exist! That's right because microfiber is used to identify a characteristic of a yarn.
