Why choose a wool blend instead of pure wool? But first: what is a wool blend?

Let's start with this question to embark on our journey into the world of knitting yarns. A wool blend refers to a yarn in which wool fiber is mixed with other fibers to add and alter its characteristics.

In this definition lies perhaps too much of the concept we want to express. Let's analyze further. The classic wool blend is commonly equated to a composition of wool and acrylic, but wool blends do not stop there. There are wool-cotton blends, wool-viscose blends, wool-alpaca blends, and we could continue the list almost indefinitely.

To make a quality wool blend yarn, one must analyze the composition in detail.
