Chenille

Softness for absolute comfort

One of the most comfortable yarns on the market is undoubtedly chenille, or in French term chenille as it is internationally recognized. This particular yarn has a rather recent history. Unlike conventional fibers, chenille only peeked into the world of fashion at the beginning of the 20th century and saw its most significant splendor in the 1970s when many designers adopted it as the main fiber of their collections. It should not be confused with velvet which has a similar structure but is fundamentally different in that it has a "nap," meaning it has a characteristic on one side that it does not present on the other.

Chenille fabric and chenille yarn

Naturally, both come from the same process, but while the fabric is woven on a loom, the chenille yarn has a particular spinning that makes it fluffy and very soft, which is why it is particularly used for baby and infant accessories. The softness of the chenille makes it also suitable for those who suffer from fibers like wool and generally of animal origin.

What is chenille made of? Chenille composition

There are several possibilities, but to get those pastel shades so in vogue with a slightly iridescent effect that makes the product typical, synthetic fiber is increasingly used which contrary to what is generally thought is very suitable even for the little ones if dyed with dyes that have been mandatory in Italy for years and as always Oeko Tex.
