Let's analyze in details to better understand the new Justin Baby and Tessiland's great research to provide a quality timeless Classic.

100% Merinos Extrafine 19 microns: the finest wool is the one which is called "extrafine", which reaches an average fineness of less than 19.5 microns (or 19.5 thousandths of a millimeter) and represents only 15% of annual production. The Australian plains are home to the best pastures for merino sheep.

Justin Baby averages usually (the analyzes even comfort us with a fineness of 18.2 microns) at 19 microns (the oscillation is linked to wool batches used, to the periods of the year and to the country of origin of the raw material).

Mulesing Free Certification:all Tessiland products are Mulesing free with careful care in the shearing the animals that provide the precious product that must last over time through your handmade creations. We decided, in the case of Justin Baby, to have it certified to boast on the labels which is an essential feature for Tessiland when choosing wool.

Guaranteed Weight: Wool is a living fiber, and as such has humidity fluctuations that affect its weight. For the latest version of Justin Baby, Tessiland has chosen to skew a percentage of the product more than usual that will never go below the tolerance limit. This aspect isn't taken for granted, in fact it is common to keep tolerances limit well above 3% getting a good price but providing less material than what is written on the labels.

Superwash Treatment: everyday life speed requires particular attention to the care of a prestigious handmade garment made with 100% Extrafine merino such as Justin Baby. We have a high attention to the eco-sustainability aspects of the treatments, we use a special treatment for Justin Baby called "Superwash" so it is machine washable using a delicate cycle now present in all modern domestic washing machines. However, we suggest you to hand wash your creation twice using warm water. The non-shrinkage of the fiber becomes a natural consequence given by the treatment and by the particular twist.

Coral twist: commonly called "pearl" by some, this particular spinning technique makes the yarn perfectly adaptable to crochet. The particular twist that makes it similar to the twist of the best cottons, makes it easy to work with the "magic knit", obviously remaining very suitable for knitting needles.

Naturally antibacterial: Justin baby is naturally antibacterial. The reason is a combination of the ability of a complex protein fiber to absorb moisture and an inappropriate environment for bacteria. The high fragmentation, broken surface and lanolin content mean that Merino products do not smell even after being worn repeatedly. It is sufficient to air wet clothing after using it. Merino wool is also characterized by a natural antistatic capacity, absorption of UV radiation and a greater resistance to dirt.

100% Made in Italy: it is not less important that the best wools in the world are worked with the comfort of the prestigious and ancient Italian quality. All the processing phases are entirely made in Italy under Tessiland® technicians control.

Some other features:

Merino wool is considered the best among the many types of wool, due to the fineness and length of the fiber. One of important parameters of Merino sheep wool is its curl: this one has about twelve curls per centimeter, unlike other wools that only have one or two. The crimped fibers acts as a thermal insulator, as it traps larger quantities of air and therefore retains heat better, protecting both from cold and intense heat.  All these qualities have contributed to making Merino wool famous, and for this reason it is identified as the highest quality product on the market.

  • It is neutral to odors: it has an antibacterial action, it does not release bad odors when you sweat. Furthermore, thanks to it, your skin will sweat less since the moisture is absorbed directly into the fibers. The bacteria responsible for bad smells are destroyed thanks to the keratin present in the fibers, this will make us not to wash Merino wool garments so often.
  • Moisture regulator: the fibers are hydrophilic, as they can store up to 35% of their specific weight in moisture. That's why Merino wool, contrary to what happens with synthetic fibers, remains warm and comfortable even when wet. Even if the wool gets wet because of sweat it continues to heat up, this is because the proteins contained in the fibers heat up as soon as they get wet.
  • It is breathable: the fibers absorb water vapor through the skin and release it again when the moisture level drops. In addition, Merino wool dries quickly keeping you cool even on hot summer days.
  •  It is a thermostat: the wool fibers cool in summer and warm in winter. In fact, its crimped fibers compress body heat giving optimal thermal insulation. Merino sheep are able to survive during the scorching summers thanks to this insulating layer.
  • It is soft: the fibers are 18-19 microns (one micron = one thousandth of a millimeter), very thin compared to the others,  they are soft on skin and are very soft to bend when in contact with the skin.
  • It's handy: even if Merino wool neutralizes odors, if it gets dirty, just wash it in the washing machine at 30 ° - 40 °.
  • It is sustainable: it is 100% ecological. Merino sheeps are shorn once or twice a year, only water, fresh air, sun and delicious grass are needed to grow this natural fiber. Shearing is purely manual work and completely painless for the animal. Furthermore, Merino wool is biodegradable and does not use any chemical additives.
  • It offers UV protection: it absorbs some of the UV rays, removing them from your skin.
  • It lasts longer: Merino wool fabrics are particularly resistant, in fact a fiber can be folded up to 20,000 times without breaking.
